Some books are not in the general collection but are in leisure reading, or they may be in reference. This will be noted in the catalog under the item's location

You can also check at the Access Services desk to see if it is there for re-shelving.

You can check the catalog to see if a local public library has the book. If not held locally, you can then do an Interlibrary Loan to obtain the book.
