This can be handled in a similar fashion as the search for quantitative articles. Again, try limiting to Research Articles and/or Peer-Reviewed Journals, and scanning the abstracts to determine the study type.

A few other strategies that may prove helpful:

  • Try using the Qualitative Studies subject heading, and see what you get.
  • Limit the set to publication types that are qualitative by definition, for example Anecdote, Interview, Questionnaire/Scale, etc.,
  • Experiment with related CINAHL subject headings such as Survey Research, Descriptive Research, Descriptive Statistics, Semi-Structured Interview, Audiorecordings, Videorecordings, etc.
