The following are general loan policies for items from Dominican's collection. For a detailed listing of all of our loan policies, including items from MARINet, open the Loan Periods, Fines and Access at the bottom of the page
Loan periods for current students and staff
- Circulating books: 4 weeks
- Journals: Library use only
- Videos / Compact Discs / DVD’s: 1 week
- Semester Reserves: 4 types: 2 hour library use only, 24 hrs, 3 days, 1 week
- Master’s Thesis: 24 hours
- Undergrad Thesis: Library use only
- MARINet eBooks: via the MARINet catalog (using MARINet account number on the back of Dominican ID)
- Interlibrary loans: Varies
- Audiovisual Equipment: 24 hours and requires a signature
Basic Loan periods for faculty
- Circulating Books (Except Leisure Collection): 1 semester or until recalled
- Leisure Collection: 4 weeks
- Journals: Library use only
- Videos/Compact Discs/DVDs: 1 semester or until recalled
- Semester Reserves: 4 types: 2 hour library use only, 24 hrs, 3 days, 1 week
- Master’s Thesis: 24 hours
- Undergrad Thesis: Library use only
- MARINet eBooks: via the MARINet catalog (using MARINet account number on the back of Dominican ID)
- Interlibrary loans: Varies
- Audiovisual Equipment: If available, as needed

- Circulating books: 3 weeks
- Journals: Library use only
- eBooks: Library use only

- Undergrad Thesis: Library use only
Loan periods for public (MARINet) patrons
- Circulating books: 3 weeks
- Journals: Library use only
- Dominican eBooks: Library use only
- Videos / Compact Discs / DVD’s: 1 week
- Master’s Thesis: Library use only
- Undergrad Thesis: Library use only
Current students and non-Dominican borrowers may check out a maximum of 10 items at any one time. Staff and faculty may check out any number of items.
Fines
Overdue books, including the Leisure Collection, are $.33 cents per day with a maximum fine of $10.00.
Overdue DVDs, videos, and music CDs are $1.00 per day with a maximum fine of $10.00.
Overdue Course Reserves are a flat fee of $4.00.
Master Theses are $1.00 a day.
Lost, unreturned, or damaged items acquire a $10.00 processing fee plus the replacement fee of $50.00 or the cost of the item.
Damage determination is at the discretion of Library staff.
